This week we will be looking at our risk and determining which ones are more likely to happen and do we have enough resources to respond to them. For your assignment you will conduct a hazard and vulnerability assessment on an organization of your choice. If you are employed in a healthcare agency, this has most likely already been done and you can use their HVA as the “talking points” for this assignment. You can have the option of conducting a HVA on your home and its location if you choose.
You will submit your hazard vulnerability analysis (HVA) document here with your 1-page paper. Kaiser Permanente has done the hard work. You are provided with the assessment tool and the instructions through the link below. You need to complete your form related to the hazard you are assessing. Note you will most likely choose Natural Hazards, but you do have the option of choosing Human-Related, Technologic, Hazardous, etc. hazards. You will explain in a short 1 page paper why you rated your top 3 hazards/emergencies the way you did. There are no right or wrong answers, just what you think is the worst.
Here are the various hazard documents:
https://www.calhospitalprepare.org/post/updated-hva-tool-kaiser-permanente
Once you review the instructions, you can click on the HVA tab for the form.
**THE COMPANY I HAVE CHOSEN IS APPLE AND THE HAZARD I HAVE CHOSEN IS TECHNOLOGICAL HAZARDS. YOU ONLY NEED TO FILL OUT THE HVA FOR THAT HAZARD, NOT THE OTHER ONES SUCH AS NATURAL, HUMAN, HAZARDOUS, ETC. I NEED THE DOCUMENT FOR THAT AS WELL AS THE SUMMARY IT WILL PROVIDE ONCE THE HAZARD SECTION IS FILLED OUT. THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE PROVIDED IN THE LINK ON HOW TO FILL IT OUT AS WELL AS THE LINK TO DOWNLOAD THE HVA SHEET. IT WILL BE AN EXCEL FILE. MAKE SURE YOU INPUT THE COMPANY NAME, AGAIN MINE IS APPLE. THE ONE PAGE PAPER WILL BE A SUMMARY OF THE ANALYSIS AND THE TOP 3 EMERGENCY EVENTS THAT WERE RANKED FOR THAT HAZARD AND WHY YOU THINK THEY WERE RANKED THAT WAY. THE FORM ALREADY INCLUDES THE EVENTS SO YOU JUST USE THOSE, NO NEED TO ADD OR MAKE UP ANY. PLEASE PROVIDE AT LEAST 3 SCHOLARLY SOURCES IN APA FORMAT TO SUPPORT YOUR REASONING, PREFERABLY ONE FOR EACH EVENT. LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.

With this database, you will:
Identify and list categorical and continuous variables.
Calculate frequencies and percentages for all of the categorical variables, and means, and standard deviations for the continuous variables.
Run a one-sample z test of proportions for one categorical variable. Here is an example in terms of wording: “Is the proportion of English speaking patients greater than 50%?” Using .05 level of significant test the appropriate hypotheses.
Write the null and alternate hypotheses
What is the proportion of English speaking patients
What is the standard error and z statistics
Find critical z and p value. Is the p value significant? Conclusion?
Run an independent samples t-test to compare two groups of people (specified by a dichotomous variable) on one continuous variable. Using .05 level of significant test the appropriate hypotheses. In order to run this test statistics you have to re-arrange your data.
Write the null and alternate hypotheses.
What is the calculated mean for each group?
What is the confidence interval for each group?
What is the critical t value?
Is the p value significant? Conclusion?

The process of reviewing new medications to ensure they are safe and effective m

The process of reviewing new medications to ensure they are safe and effective makes use of many epidemiological methods. The Food and Drug Administration is involved heavily in this regulation and is required to ensure rigorous testing is done before medications are released to the general public.
For the first part of this assignment, review the following website, which details the FDA process:
http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DevelopmentApprovalProcess/HowDrugsareDevelopedandApproved/default.htmLinks to an external site.
Next, watch television or listen to the radio and write down the names of two new medications being advertised.
Research these medications and complete the chart below on their development.
When filling out the chart, use complete sentences; each box should contain at least one full paragraph of information. You must include support from the required readings, as well as at least one outside source. Use the WCU Library to find scholarly sources that support your paper.

Now, it’s time to complete an important part of your project – decide which descriiptive statistics to use to describe how your participants answered each question on your survey. For this discussion, provide the following:
What are your research questions? (Main hypotheses and goal of your study)
Describe your dependent variable. What type of measures: Categorical or Continuous, what type of descriiptive analysis?
Describe your main independent variable as well as other variables (such as demographics): What type of measures: Categorical or Continuous, what type of descriiptive analysis?
How the questions are worded and answered for each chosen independent variable and dependent variable?

This week, you will determine the sampling methods for your theoretical research

This week, you will determine the sampling methods for your theoretical research study and create a formal questionnaire.
Restate the research question you have chosen.
Identify your sample population and brainstorm questions that will illicit clear responses from your population based on your study question.
Write 3–4 paragraphs about your sampling methods.
Create a formal questionnaire with 15–20 questions.
The questionnaire should contain a proper survey introduction. The introductory paragraph should provide information on the topic of the study, its purpose, and include a confidentiality statement.
Use at least three different types of survey questions in the questionnaire. Some of the most common types are: close-ended, rating scale, Likert-type, multiple choice, rank order, and open-ended.
Your paper should follow APA formatting and citation.
