This paper is a reflection on the films “The Searchers (1954)” and “Django: Unchained (2012)”.
I will include a PDF with guidelines. Please keep in mind that this is a reflection assignment which means there is no single way to go about it, no exact rubric. The point is to encourage you to explore your own ideas about the film in relation to the lecture, and express your own opinion about what you think, and how and why you think that way about it.
There are questions to refer to on the PDF attached.

PLEASE CONSIDER ONLY THE CONTENT FOUND IN PAGES 90 THROUGH 180 OF THE BOOK
Do you have a clear sense of the story being told to you, looking back on another time with a more modern outlook? Is the perspective of the storytelling consistent? Do you have a sense of an explicit or implied narrator?
Do you get lots of information in summary? Are you provided with conclusions and clear understandings of how to judge the events and people involved?
What chains of Cause & Effect do you see operating?
Trace the stories of three characters that exist within this narrative:
Katherine Johnson; Dorothy Vaughan; and Mary Jackson
Is each one an individual story? Do their stories all center on thematic issues and not just the circumstances of working in the nation’s chief aeronautical lab?

Another aspect to each of these assignments is that you are required to format your submission in standard MLA format. If you do not know how to do this, or if you need a refresher, use the Purdue Owl MLA Formatting and Style Guide. The aspects of the MLA format I want in your assignment submission are as follows:

The four lines of information at the top left of your paper

An assignment/paper title (this is centered)

The entirety of your submission is to be formatted with Times New Roman font, size 12, all double-spaced no more and no less!

The quotations and paraphrases you utilize will have the appropriate parenthetical in-text citation at the end of any and all relevant sentences.

Assignment 4 of 4 – 1984

Instead of summarizing Orwell's 1984, explain to me what you interpret the book to really be about.

You do not need to re-watch a film, but use a film you did watch to help make your case.

This assignment will require you to reflect, ponder, think, mull over, and ultimately take a position and share with me how what you have come up with is applicable not only in theorizing what the narrative is about but you are also to show how this narrative is in some way relevant to us now, in our contemporary world.
