Meeting requirements:
You must attend a 12-step style meeting (e.g. AA, NA). See here for a list of different 12-step facilitated support groups.
You must attend an OPEN meeting. Open meetings are those that allow outsiders to observe. The meeting information should specifically state that it is an open meeting. Do not assume that it is! If in doubt, contact a group leader and ask for permission to attend the meeting as a student observer. If the meeting is listed as an open meeting, then you do not need to ask permission to attend.
Be respectful and polite. Do not speak unless asked to do so.
If asked to introduce yourself, be honest about why you are attending the meeting. Do not pretend to be in recovery if you are not!

You will create a technical design specification that will include screenshots of your created MySQL database, your entity-relationship diagram, and a detailed description of what you are solving for. You are permitted to build off of the database created in earlier weeks, or you may start with a new research topic of interest. If you build off of the previously created database, you must add significantly to the previous design to address new analytic issues.
Your database design and document should include the following:
Research problem statement – includes citations to the literature in support of any assertions or facts presented
Stakeholder analysis – identifies who cares about this research, or who will weigh in on future use of the database and/or insights the data can provide
Endpoint discussion – includes intended use of the database and any insights planned to be achieved by the design and the data to be housed in the schema; includes citations to the literature for any assertions or statements of facts presented
Technical design – includes screenshots and/or descriptions of all tables, fields, and description of the data contained in the fields (metadata (i.e., field data types), and example data contained with each field)
At least 8 tables – 8 new tables, if building off your previously developed assignment database), with no orphaned tables (i.e., no tables that do not relate to at least one other table in the schema); each table should have no less than 2 fields and no more than 8 fields
Entity-relationship diagram, with cardinality – includes showing the nature of relationships between related tables
Length: 5-10 pages, not including title page
References: Include a minimum of 3 scholarly resources.

In chapter 1 we read about the concept “The Sociological Imagination” as applied

In chapter 1 we read about the concept “The Sociological Imagination” as applied to unemployment and in lecture the concept was applied using the example of drinking a cup of coffee. C. Wright Mills calls us to “take on” this way of analyzing our social world, considering the interdependence between who we are as individuals and the social forces that shape our lives…and this activity is an attempt for you to engage in this process! Here, I am calling you to apply the sociological imagination to our social experience with the cell phone. In a 2021 study of adult cell phone usage, it was found that Americans check their devices on average 344 times per day, or about every 4 minutes of the time they don’t sleep. The smart phone has had a profound impact on our social lives since it’s development and diffusion throughout our culture…and is therefore an interesting social phenomenon for sociological investigation.
In part 1 you will start by working your way through the questions below which will help you think critically about our ordinary experiences with the cell phone. (you can provide your responses in bullet form but you do need to do a deep dive…going beyond surface level observations).
In part 2, watch the two short film clips which describe cell phone addiction and extoll the benefits of living without a smartphone; then reflect on the question prompts.
Finally, in part 3 reflect on the process you went through in part one (engaging in deep, critical thought on the experience/influence of cell phones) and reflections in part two, considering the benefits and challenges of taking on the sociological imagination to understand the social world.
